Send a first message with room for a reply
A brief, considerate opening can lead to a more useful conversation.
Refer to something they chose to share
Mention one detail from the profile and ask a simple question. You might ask about an interest or a suggested activity. Avoid guessing someone's experience from a photo or leading with an intimate request.
Keep the pace mutual
Send a message that can be answered easily rather than several questions at once. Give the other person time. Different schedules and communication styles are normal; an unanswered message does not create an obligation to reply.
Move on without pressure
If someone declines or the conversation fades, you can stop politely. Do not use guilt, repeated messages or a new account to seek a response. When interest is mutual, discuss whether both people would like to keep chatting or arrange a first meeting.
